Ticket Validity

Unused tickets are valid for one year from original ticket issue date, or per applicable fare rule.
Prior to commencement of travel, tickets can be exchanged for a new departure date.
Travel must be completed within one year of original ticket issue date.

Partially used tickets can be exchanged and travel must be completed within one year from original
tickets’ first flown outbound date.

Once a ticket expires, it has no more value, and is rendered expired in our system.

COVID Exception:

The validity of tickets issued/reissued from 01 Apr 2021 to 05 Jul 2022, with travel dates on/after 01 Mar 2020,
is 24 months from original date of issue, or the date of issue of the of first exchange ticket.

Ticket Validity Extension

Upon request within 60 days prior to the original ticket expiry date, Air Canada will extend, only once,
the period of validity of unused published 014 tickets for travel on Air Canada operated or Air Canada
codeshare flights. The new outbound date must be within 3 months of original ticket expiry date.

Travel must be completed within 1 year from the new departure date.
A non-refundable ticket validity extension fee (TVEF) of $50 CAD/USD plus tax apply.

Eligible
Unused published fare tickets, leisure net fares with fare shown on tickets, and Corporate contracted
fares.

Non-Eligible
Leisure IT/BT no fare tickets, Aeroplan rewards and Air Canada Vacations tickets.

Process
The extension for travel agents’ bookings, regardless of the booking channel, is done via the Contact
Centre within 60 days prior to the ticket expiration date. Contact Centre agents will process the
exchange and collect the TVEF.

Exception with Corporate contracted tickets, they can be exchanged in your GDS within 60 days of ticket
expiration. Immediately after reissuing your tickets, please call the Contact Centre to pay for the TVEF.
A remark will be added to the PNR confirming the fee was collected.
