January 2024

  • Air Canada recognized as one of the top employers for young people in Canada in 2024, the first time Air Canada has received this recognition. This honour, awarded by Mediacorp Canada Inc., celebrates Canada’s leading organizations for their commitment to developing and nurturing young professionals through innovative programs for young workers, including mentorship, training, career opportunities and social responsibility.
  • Air Canada recognized for both the Waste Wars and YVR Green Excellence awards for Environmental Stewardship from Vancouver Airport Authority for our efforts in reducing waste and emissions.

  • Air Canada’s Cargo division was named the 2024 Cargo Operator of the Year as part of the 50th annual ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards.

November 2023

  • Air Canada presented with the Outstanding Commitment to Employment Equity award and the Sector Distinction honour as part of the Employment Equity Achievement Awards announced recently. They recognize the airline’s recovery from the pandemic and how it rebuilt its workforce with a focus on the customers’ experience, employee’s wellness and a renewed commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Aeroplan was voted Canada’s Premier Airline Loyalty Program, and along with its credit card partners took home top honours in four categories:

  • Canada’s most attractive employers by Universum. More than 28 thousand students from 156 Canadian colleges and universities were surveyed this year, and Air Canada was ranked as an ideal employer by students in Business, Engineering & IT, Arts and Natural Sciences.
  • Air Canada has been honoured with a Five Star Global Airline Award at the APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association) 2024 Awards! This marks our fifth time in six years that we’ve received this recognition.
  • Air Canada has won the 2023 Better Work Award from Indeed for prioritizing work wellbeing and building towards a future of better work.

  • Air Canada won the sustainable airline award at BTN Group’s inaugural Business Travel Sustainability Awards Americas. The award is focused on how companies worked to advance environmental sustainability within the business travel industry through tangible results in diverse environmental programs.
  • Air Canada is the inaugural recipient of Skytrax’s World’s Most Family Friendly Airline award. The World’s Most Family Friendly Airline reflects the quality and quantity of family friendly initiatives from dedicated family check-in, seating and baggage policies, child meals, amenities, in-flight entertainment, baby and staff service initiatives, amongst other items.
  • Air Canada wins at the Global Traveler Magazine Leisure Lifestyle Awards:   
    • Best Airline for Onboard Entertainment for the fifth consecutive year
    • Best Airline Onboard Menu (Business Class) for the fourth consecutive year
    • Best Premium Economy Class for the fifth consecutive year

  • Aeroplan, Air Canada’s loyalty program, was recognized with several prestigious Freddie Awards, including Airline Program of the Year, Best Promotion and Best Redemption Ability. With more than 9 million votes cast worldwide, the Freddie Awards are widely considered to be the most prestigious awards in the travel loyalty industry. The awards recognize travel loyalty programs that demonstrate excellence in customer service, value, and innovation.
  • Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Air Canada Vacations brought home six awards from Travel Pulse Canada’s 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards, as voted on by readers of Travel Pulse Canada:
    • Traditional Airline of the Year – Air Canada
    • Best Digital Interactive Brochure – Air Canada Vacations
    • Best Sales Team in Canada – Air Canada Vacations

  • Air Canada was recognized for its wellbeing initiatives during the 2023 Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces Awards. The award ceremonies celebrate the top 50 employers that demonstrate leadership through employee engagement and recognition. The wellbeing award recognized employers who support the physical, mental, financial, and social wellness of their employees.

  • Air Canada was recognized as One of Montreal’s Top Employers for the 10th consecutive year in Mediacorp Canada’s 2023 annual employer survey. This survey considered a wide range of workplace-related criteria, such as wellness programs, the philosophy of growing roles and offering diverse opportunities based on various skill sets.
  • Air Canada was named One of the 50 Most Engaged Workplaces for the sixth consecutive year. This achievement is based on Achiever’s Eight Elements of Employee Engagement including Accountability & Performance, Belonging, Equity & Inclusion, Culture Alignment, Manager Empowerment, Professional & Personal Growth, Purpose & Leadership, Recognition & Rewards, and Wellbeing.

  • Air Canada was named One of Canada’s Best Employers by Forbes for the eighth consecutive year, recognizing the airline’s commitment to providing excellent employment opportunities for employees in Canada. This recognition is based on independent surveys of over 12,000 employees in which they were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family as well as for their opinion on working conditions, salary, and potential for development.

December 2022

  • Air Canada was named the Best Airline in North America for the fourth consecutive year by the readers of Global Traveler. The airline also won Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness for the third consecutive year in the magazine’s readership of frequent business and luxury travellers.

November 2022

  • Air Canada was named one of the World’s Best Employers 2022 by Forbes. According to Forbes, this award is based on independent surveys asking to rate employers according to various topics such as image, trust, gender, corporate social responsibility, culture, and benefits. Over one million data points were analyzed.
  • Aeroplan, Air Canada’s loyalty program, won all five of its competition categories at this year's Canada Choice travel rewards, including Top Airline Loyalty Program. With more than 21,000 people voting, Aeroplan took an unprecedented 88 per cent of the vote while Aeroplan’s credit cards took the top three spots in the Top Airline Credit Card category, with over 87 per cent of the vote.
  • Air Canada became the first airline to be awarded silver level status at the Canada Awards for Excellence for Mental Health. In awarding its recognitions, Excellence Canada evaluated several criteria including: leadership, planning, program and communication, people engagement, and process management and risk assessment.

October 2022

  • Air Canada's Aeroplan loyalty program has been recognized for Best Earning and Redemption Ability (Americas) in a survey of global frequent flyers by the Frequent Traveler (FT) People's Awards, which celebrate excellence in loyalty programs globally. The award recognizes Aeroplan's extensive air reward program.

September 2022

  • Air Canada’s work in the community was recognized at the annual Canadian HR Awards with the Payworks Award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy. This honour recognizes an organization for successfully establishing corporate social responsibility in its culture through its people. The annual Canadian HR Awards are recognized as the leading independent awards program in the human resource profession. Additional information about Air Canada’s people, employee and community engagement, safety, wellness, the environment, and other initiatives are detailed in the airline’s 2021 Corporate Sustainability Report, Citizens of the World.
  • Air Canada was recognized for its safety-first culture and its innovative use of technology to promote workplace safety. The awards were presented at OHS Honours, an event that recognizes the best in workplace occupational health and safety (OHS) across Canada, where the airline won in the OHS Culture and Best Use of Safety Technology categories.

August 2022

  • Air Canada Cargo received an Excellence in Service Award from Expeditors, a global logistics provider and top-tier cargo customer. Air Canada Cargo was recognized for its support and partnership in 2020 and 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when shippers and freight forwarders faced significant service and capacity constraints.

July 2022

  • Air Canada was named one of Canada’s 2022 Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes. According to Forbes, this award demonstrates "excellent leadership and success" and "signifies to potential employees that Air Canada's brand belongs to the top performers." More than 10,000 professionals working for businesses with at least 500 employees in Canada were surveyed by market research group Statista to identify the country’s best employers for diversity. Evaluations were based on various criteria including statements on age, gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQIA+, general diversity in the current workplace and diversity among top executives/board.

June 2022

  • Air Canada was recognized in five categories in a series of awards for excellence in leisure and lifestyle travel, and the best of family travel. Awards were determined by readers of FXExpress Publications’ Global Traveler and its sister publication WhereverFamily for the following accolades: Leisure Lifestyle Awards

  • Air Canada was recognized at TravelPulse’s 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards for Best Airline of the Year, Best Health and Safety Protocols, Airline, and Best Trade Communications during COVID-19.

April 2022

  • Aeroplan, Air Canada's loyalty program, was recognized as upcoming and trending and best redemption ability in the Americas in a survey of global frequent fliers by the Freddie Awards, an international award that recognizes top loyalty programs. The award is given to the best scoring program that is ranked by fewer than 10% of voters. It’s meant to recognize an up and coming program delivering value to members that may not yet be on the radar of as many frequent travellers.

February 2022

  • Air Canada was named one of "Montreal's Top Employers" for the ninth consecutive year in Mediacorp Canada’s annual employer survey. The survey recognizes companies in Montreal for exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies, and includes a comparison of others in their industry and region.
  • Air Canada has received the Vancouver Airport Green Excellence Award for a third consecutive year. Each year, the Vancouver Airport Authority, recognizes exceptional Sea Island businesses for their commitment, enthusiasm, and innovation in minimizing the environmental impact of their operations with this award.

January 2022

  • Air Canada was named on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers for 2022. In partnership with market research firm Statista, Forbes compiled the list by surveying more than 10,000 Canadians, who work for businesses with more than 500 employees, in online panels.
  • The Roberta Bondar Foundation named Air Canada in its inaugural Award for Innovation and Creativity for its long-term commitment to environmental protection through its net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 target and other initiatives to protect the planet. The award was launched for the 30th anniversary of Roberta Bondar’s historic space flight as Canada’s first female astronaut and the first neurologist in space.

December 2021

  • Air Canada named the Best Airline in North America for the third consecutive year by the readers of Global Traveler. It’s the 18th edition of the Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey of the magazine’s readership of frequent business and luxury travellers, and we were also awarded Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness for the second straight year.
  • In the APEX annual ratings for 2022, Air Canada reaffirmed as a Five-Star Global Airline in the APEX Official Airline RatingsTM, based on customer feedback. The APEX Official Airline RatingsTM were created based on neutral, third-party passenger feedback and insights gathered through APEX’s partnership with Concur’s TripIt, the world’s highest-rated travel organizing app, and independently certified by an external auditing company.
  • Air Canada named the Best North American Airline for International Travel by Business Traveler USA in its recently published Best in Business Travel Awards for 2021.
  • Air Canada won gold in all six categories of StudentUniverse’s annual student airline survey: Best for international travel (Canada); Best for travel within Canada (Canada); Best value for students and youth in 2021 (Canada); Best service for students and youth in 2021 (Canada); Safest during COVID-19 (Canada); and Overall best airline for students and youth in 2021 (Canada).
  • Air Canada is Parity Certified with Women in Governance and is a member of the 30% Club and a signatory to the Catalyst Accord 2022, whose objective is to increase the average percentage of women on boards and in executive positions in corporate Canada to 30 per cent or greater by 2022.

  • Air Canada recognized for our people, products and services at the recent 2021 Skytrax World Airline Awards, with honours for:
    • Best Airline Staff in North America;
    • Best Airline Staff in Canada,

  • Air Canada wins “Excellence in Management” at Golden Loyalty Awards 2021. The award is typically given to an organization that shows outstanding strategic thinking in a specific management initiative, helping its loyalty program move forward. The rationale noted for our win was that despite the difficult context of being in the middle of a global pandemic, we were able to push forward and successfully launch a “complete overhaul” of our Aeroplan program, after having brought the program in-house in 2019.
  • Air Canada recognized as one of the “Elite Eight” companies for our “Purpose & Leadership” within the 2021 Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces® Awards.   • Air Canada named Airline of the Year at 5th annual Incheon Airport awards. This award is determined by on time performance, the total number of flights and overall customer service, and it is the second time we have won this award since 2017.

March 2021

  • Air Canada named one of Canada's  Best Diversity Employers for the sixth consecutive year by Mediacorp Canada Inc. The airline was selected again this year for its ongoing commitment to inclusiveness through various initiatives and programs that promote equal opportunities for all people and a work environment where all employees feel respected and recognized.

  • Air Canada named one of Montréal’s top employers for eighth straight year in Mediacorp Canada Inc.’s annual employer survey. The 2021 survey recognizes Montréal-based companies that stood out for their resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations were also selected for their exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.

January 2021

  • Air Canada received the YVR Green Excellence Award for the second consecutive year. The Vancouver Airport Authority recognized our organization for two green initiatives that were spearheaded by our Corporate Real Estate team: a LED lighting project at YVR Operations Centre and the ION “pure water refreshment” option that eliminates water bottle use. These changes helped support Air Canada’s efforts to reduce our energy and water consumption usage.

December 2020

  • Air Canada receives 5-Star rating in the Global Airline category by Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX), an honour based on passenger feedback and ratings.
  • Air Canada received Best Airline in North America by Global Traveler for the second straight year based on customer feedback. Additionally, the leading industry magazine also named the company for the following awards:

  • Air Canada was voted Best Family-Friendly Airline and Best Family-Friendly International Airline in North America at this year's WhereverAwards which evaluates family travel.
  • Air Canada ranked among the Top 100 employers in the Forbes World Employer ranking, listed in the transportation and logistics category. The Forbes ranking is based on a survey of 160,000 workers from 58 countries who were asked to rate their employer and other employers in the same category.
  • Air Canada awarded the Platinum prize for Innovation in Corporate Social Responsibility and the Bronze award for Business Transformation by customer loyalty association, Loyalty360.

  • Air Canada has received an Employment Equity Achievement Award in the category of Sector Distinction for 2019 from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). According to the federal government, our Diversity & Inclusion approach and goals “have significantly impacted Air Canada’s culture transformation.”

  • Air Canada named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for the fifth year in a row by Mediacorp Canada Inc. Mediacorp cited our continuing work to foster inclusiveness through numerous partnerships and our success outreaching directly to diverse communities when recruiting and other initiatives.

  • The Air Canada Café at Toronto Pearson International Airport has clinched the Grands Prix du Design 2020 award in the Café category. Launched last September, our YYZ café was Designed by Heekyung Duquette Design Office and Éric Majer Architecte.

  • Air Canada was named the Best North American Airline for International Travel for the 12th consecutive year at the 2019 Best in Business Travel Awards by readers of leading frequent business traveller magazine Business Traveler USA.
  • Air Canada was recognized as the 2019 Airline of the Year by Global Traveler, the leading magazine for luxury business and leisure travellers. The publication’s advisory board chooses the winner based on series of factors: financial data, safety records, product offerings, onboard menus and overall image as a brand.

November 2019

  • Air Canada was named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for the seventh consecutive year in Mediacorp Canada Inc.'s annual national employer survey for 2020.
  • Air Canada Bistro clinched the top spot for the overall menu, which includes healthy choices and transparency in providing nutritional information, in the 2019-2020 Diet Detective Airline Food Survey of 11 major carriers.

September 2019

  • Air Canada was named a winner of the 2019 North American Candidate Experience (CandE) Awards for the third consecutive year - one of 65 companies to receive the prize by the Talent Board. This award is presented to companies whose job candidates (totalling more than 195,000) rate them the highest.
  • Air Canada was voted Best Family-Friendly Airline and Best Family-Friendly Frequent-Flyer Program in North America at this year's Wherever Awards. Wherever Family is part of the FXExpress Publications Inc. family, which also includes Global Traveler and Trazee Travel.

August 2019

  • Air Canada was named Favorite Airline in North America at 2019 Trazees Awards in Chicago, by readers of trazeetravel.com. Trazee Travel is a web publication aimed at travellers between the ages of 25 and 40.

  • Air Canada wins the Achievers 50 Most Engaged WorkplaceTM award for the fourth year in a row. This annual award recognizes top employers that display leadership and innovation in engaging their employees in the workplace.
  • Air Canada is recognized for Diversity in Leadership at 2019 Airline Strategy Awards in London, England.  This inaugural prize recognizes an airline organization that promotes diversity among its senior leadership team.

June 2019

  • Air Canada was named Best Airline in North America for the third consecutive year and recognized for the world's Best Business Class Lounge Dining, Best Airline Staff in Canada, Best Business Class in North America and Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America at the 2019 Skytrax World Airline Awards ceremony at the International Paris Air Show. It is the eighth time in the past ten years the carrier was selected as the Best in North America by the World Airline Awards, which are based on passenger satisfaction surveys of more than 21 million global travellers.

  • Air Canada receives “Best Premium Economy Class and Best Airline for Onboard Entertainment” awards from Global Traveler at 2019 Leisure Lifestyle Awards.
  • Air Canada Signature Service launch wins at the ACE awards (The Achieving Communications Excellence). Winning a silver award in each of the following categories: New Product or Service Launch of the Year, Brand Development Campaign of the Year, Best Media Relations Campaign, and Best Use of Special Events. These awards recognize outstanding work as judged by some of the industry’s most accomplished communicators.
  • Air Canada was named Best Traditional Airline of the Year at the 2019 by TravelPulse Canada Readers' Choice Awards in Toronto. The winning selection is based on the overall opinion of RCA voters. More than 4,000 retail agencies take part in the voting.

  • Aeroplan, Air Canada's loyalty program, was presented with “210 Award by the Freddie Awards in Dallas as the airline in the Americas whose program value vote rating was trending higher in a survey of global frequent fliers. This is an international award that recognizes top loyalty programs.
  • Air Canada receives the “Best Business Class in North America” by Trip Advisor - Traveller’s Choice Awards for 2019 based on the reviews of millions of travellers around the world.
  • Air Canada receives the “2018 Airline of the Year” award from the Seoul-Incheon Airport Authority where approximately 70 airlines operate to and from Seoul-Incheon airport.
  • Air Canada wins “Outstanding Food Service by a Carrier in North America” and “Best Business Class Amenity Kits” honours at the PAX International Readership Awards ceremony during the Aircraft Interiors and World Travel Catering Expo in Hamburg. These are based on submissions by airlines and industry suppliers. PAX International is a globally respected publication covering news and developments in the passenger services, interiors, IFE, connectivity and MRO industries.
  • Air Canada named a “Megastar” in The Globe and Mail’s “Report on Business” magazine’s top 1,000 guide for Canadian companies for a third consecutive year. This report contains detailed data on the largest 1,000 companies in Canada and is based on a star system that ranks stocks according to their attractiveness as potential value and momentum investments.

March 2019

  • Air Canada named “One of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers ” for the fourth year in a row by Mediacorp Canada because, in part, of our partnerships with Ready, Willing and Able, the Indspire’s Indigenous scholarship and award program, and our work with Jazz Aviation to create a partnership with First Nations Technical Institute to help young Aboriginal students become pilots. In addition to these initiatives, Air Canada is also recognized for logging notable advances for women and our long-standing support of the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Air Canada named “Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America 2018” by Skytrax World Airline Awards. The global airline satisfaction survey bases its rankings on customer surveys about the cleanliness of seats, tables, carpets, cabin panels and lavatories.

  • Air Canada's Signature Suite at Toronto Pearson wins two design awards at the 12th annual Grand Prix du Design in the categories of "Bar, Lounge Design" and "Lighting Design" showcasing the talent of Québec-based designers and architects.

  • Air Canada named one of Montreal's Top Employers for sixth consecutive year in Mediacorp Canada Inc's survey. Air Canada was recognized for exceptional human resources programs and forward-thinking workplace policies.

December 2018

  • Air Canada named the preferred airline for business travellers in North America by the Ipsos Reid 2018 Canadian Business Traveller Survey. Air Canada is the only Canadian airline that has seen a consistent increase in preference and in usage in the last five years, according to the national study.
  • Air Canada was also named the "Best North American Airline for International Travel" and the "Best North American Airline for Inflight Experience" by Business Traveller USA. The magazine invites its readers annually to select the top travel providers across the globe, noting that business travellers are always the first to identify the best products and services essential to success and return on the traveller's investment.
