Air Canada’s electronic boarding pass (EBP) is a 2D barcode image that contains all of the same flight details as the Air Canada boarding pass that you receive when you check in online or at an airport kiosk.

Flights Eligible for Electronic Boarding Passes
You can receive an electronic boarding pass (EBP) when you travel with an electronic ticket on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express from most of the airports Air Canada serves (with more airports added regularly).
You will not be able to receive an electronic boarding pass if:
- You are flying out of an airport where the service is not available or
- You are travelling on a flight operated by another airline
- Your booking is for more than four passengers or if one of those passengers is an infant (under age 2)

How is my electronic boarding pass sent to me?
By App:
You can also receive your Boarding pass in the Air Canada app. Simply, Check-in using the app and your electronic boarding pass will be saved and can be accessed from your home screen. Your electronic boarding pass will be updated with the latest flight and gate information.
By email:
You can receive your electronic boarding pass via e-mail. Simply provide your e-mail address during the check-in process and the information will be sent to your inbox. You can then access your electronic boarding pass via your e-mail account on your mobile device. The e-mail will contain the flight information details and a link to your electronic boarding pass.
By Text (SMS) message:
You can receive your electronic boarding pass via text (SMS) message sent directly to you mobile device. Simply provide your mobile phone number during the check-in process and the required message will be sent to you. The message will contain a link to your electronic boarding pass.

I’m travelling without checked baggage. How do I use my EBP?
If you have no bags to check:
- Check in online, with your mobile device or at an airport kiosk to receive your electronic boarding pass via e-mail or text (SMS) message.
- Proceed directly to the security checkpoint.
- Access your electronic boarding pass via the link in your e-mail or text (SMS) message and show the barcode with the flight information to the security agent.
- Proceed to your gate.
- Present your barcode to the gate agent to scan and board your flight.
- You may also show the in-flight crew your barcode and flight information in order for them to help you to your seat.
I’m travelling with checked baggage. How do I use my EBP?
- Proceed directly to an Air Canada self-tagging kiosk (where available) or to the Baggage Drop-off counter.
- Use your electronic boarding pass to retrieve your flight details at the Check-in Kiosk or show your e-mail or text (SMS) message (flight details) at the Baggage Drop-off counter.
- Obtain your baggage tags (if self-tagging, tag your bags and proceed to Air Canada Baggage Drop-off).
- Proceed to the security checkpoint.
- Display your e-mail or text (SMS) message (flight details) to the security agent.
- Proceed to your gate.
- Access your electronic boarding pass via the link in your e-mail or SMS for the gate agent to scan to board your flight.
- You may also show the in-flight crew your e-mail or text (SMS) message in order for them to help you to your seat.
