What we do
Air Canada Foundation programs and initiatives
The Air Canada Foundation carries out its charitable activities through a number of programs and initiatives, which have been developed and expanded over the course of many years.
Every Bit Counts program
Air Canada collects small change on its flights and in containers in certain Canadian airports and Maple Leaf Lounges. The proceeds are distributed to causes and organizations that are supported by the Foundation. In 2011, the proceeds of this program were donated to the Children’s Miracle Network and their member pediatric hospitals across Canada.
The Wings of Courage program
Aims to recognize the courage of children fighting illness. Air Canada Pilots visit hospitals to participate in activities with children; they also present them with certificates and medals of courage in recognition of their bravery in combating serious illness.
The Volunteer Involvement Program
Air Canada employees are very much involved in their communities and this program was created to support and recognize their efforts. The Air Canada Foundation award support of fundraising activities by charitable organizations for which Air Canada employees volunteer.
Closest to the Pin
Our latest program has been designed to address the numerous requests we receive from charitable organizations in support to their golf tournaments. On the golf course, a hole is identified as the Air Canada Foundation hole; the person who gets the ball closest to the pin is registered for a draw at the end of the golf season for the possibility of winning one of three pairs of Economy Class tickets valid for travel within North America, including Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean.
