Historical Fleet
Since our first flight in 1937, Air Canada has been passionate about connecting Canadians to the world and introducing them to the latest in aviation technology. Air Canada’s innovations to the science of air travel include the development of oxygen systems (1939-1946), the introduction of de-icing (1938-1939), the invention and introduction of the “Black Box” flight recorder and the introduction of the jet engine (April 1, 1960).
More recently, Air Canada was the first airline to introduce lie-flat beds and seatback personal entertainment systems (2005), as well as electronic boarding passes and apps for iPhones and BlackBerrys (2009).
Our fleet has certainly evolved over the last 75 years, but we’re still proud to have included these planes among our fleet.
