Waitlist with priority for a flight at full capacity. Should a seat become available prior to the flight departure date, you will be assigned that seat with priority if you have purchased an eligible fare. Note that this does not apply to Aeroplan flight rewards.

Aeroplan 50K, 75K or Super Elite Members can select a Standard Seat in advance at no extra cost for flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express or Air Canada Rouge when travelling to any destination with the purchase of a Standard fare or higher. This also applies to travel companions booked on the same reservation as the status member.

Standard Seat selection can also always be selected in advance, free of charge, with or without Elite Status, with the purchase of a Flex fare or higher.

Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Super Elite Members may check-in at a Star Alliance Gold counter when travelling with any Star Alliance member airline. Aeroplan 50K, 75K and Super Elite Members may also use the Air Canada Business Class Check-in when travelling on any Air Canada flight when departing from Toronto Pearson International Airport. Super Elite Members have access to exclusive check-in counters in Calgary, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

Each pass is valid for access to Maple Leaf Lounges located in the domestic and U.S. zones of airports in Canada, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York (LaGuardia), and the United Club located in Terminal A of Newark Liberty International Airport. Passes can be used on or before their expiry date with a confirmed same-day departing ticket for scheduled Air Canada flights. Visitors under the age of majority must be accompanied by an adult.

Passengers travelling on Air Canada flights can enjoy the comfort and amenities of a variety of airline or airport lounges in most airports globally. Subject to space availability, you can invite one guest at no charge into eligible lounges if your guest is travelling on the same flight.

Additionally, members can access Virgin Australia lounges when traveling on Air Canada or Virgin Australia, and the Emirates Business Class Lounges at Dubai International airport (DXB) when traveling on Air Canada or Emirates.

If you are expecting a baby or welcoming a new child into your family, and plan on taking a parental leave, you can request an extension and continue to enjoy the benefits of your Elite Status when you return to flying more frequently. Air Canada is proud to have been the first airline in North America to offer this benefit.

To request your extension, please send an email to Elite.Parents@aircanada.ca and include a copy of proof of parental leave from your employer as well as a copy of the certificate of childbirth, adoption or fostering.

Terms and conditions

Aeroplan Elite Status Members who are on an extended leave of absence from work in order to spend time caring for/preparing for a child to join their family (including adoption and fostering) will be eligible for an Elite Status Extension. In order to qualify for an Elite Status Extension, eligible members will need to provide documentation proving their maternity or paternity leave, along with certification of childbirth, adoption or fostering. Following review, documentation provided will be destroyed. Upon commencing more frequent travel following their leave, the Elite Status Extension will enable the member to enjoy the same status held prior to going on leave. Note that Elite Members who hold Elite Status that was granted as a special offer or as part of the "Aeroplan Elite Status for a friend" Select Benefit are not eligible for Elite Status Extension. Elite Status Extension is a discretionary benefit, and Air Canada reserves the right to decline an application for, or to change the offer of, an Elite Status Extension at any time, at its own discretion.
