Due to a large number of foreign dignitaries arriving in Japan mostly via Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) and Narita International Airport (Narita) because of the Enthronement Ceremony taking place on 22 October 2019 (Tue), traffic restrictions are expected on metropolitan highways and roadways on 22 October (Tue) and 23 October (Wed) as well as before and after those dates. Visitors planning to use the airports are advised to use means of public transport that are less likely to be affected by traffic restrictions and allow extra travel time. Thank you for your understanding.
Effective period of traffic restrictions: 19 October 2019 (Sat) to 26 October 2019 (Sat)
Since private planes for foreign heads of state are expected to be in operation during this period, there may be delays in scheduled flights. In addition, some of the domestic flights arriving and departing from Haneda and Narita airports have been cancelled.
It is therefore recommended to always check the status of your flight before heading to the airport.
