How do I cancel my booking online?
- Click on the Manage my Bookings tab at the top of any aircanada.com page and find your booking in one of two ways:
- Access a single Flight Booking by entering your booking reference, last name, and the number of the credit card used to make the booking (the number will be used for retrieval purposes only); or
- Sign in to access all bookings in your account, then select the booking you wish to cancel.
- On your flight booking page, click on the ‘Cancel Booking' link and follow the easy instructions to cancel your booking.
- Once the cancellation process is complete, a confirmation email will be sent to the email you provided at time of booking.
Do I get a refund if I cancel my booking within 24 hours of purchase?
If you cancel your booking within 24 hours of purchase, we will:
- refund the price of your ticket and send you a confirmation email, or
- cancel the payment transaction (no email is sent in this case).
If you're cancelling a booking for which an upgrade has been confirmed, you'll need to call Air Canada Reservations to request your refund.
Exception: In the case of Flight Pass bookings, credits that are cancelled within 2 hours of booking will be credited back to your Flight Pass account and no cancellation fee will apply.
Do I get a refund if I cancel my booking after 24 hours?
You should always be aware, at the time of purchase, if your ticket is refundable and under what conditions. Many tickets (e.g. many promotional or seat sale tickets) are non-refundable, while others may be subject to a refund penalty which limits their refundable value. In most cases, the words “non-refundable” or “non-ref” are clearly printed on the ticket and ticket receipt.
If you're in doubt as to your ticket's eligibility for a refund, please contact Air Canada Reservations.
How do online refunds work?
My entire fare is fully refundable:
When you cancel this type of booking online, you'll be offered an online refund. You will also be given the option to retain the value of your unused ticket for future travel.
Only a part of my travel is refundable:
In this case, your online option will be to retain the balance of your unused ticket for future travel. You can also request a partial refund by calling Air Canada Reservations.
My fare is not refundable:
If you purchased a non refundable fare and wish to cancel your booking online, the value of your ticket will be banked for use as a future travel credit.
To use the value of an unused ticket for future travel, please contact Air Canada Reservations.
You may also want to refer to the Refund Services page for detailed information on how refunds are processed, and how you can apply your unused ticket value to the purchase of a new ticket.
I’m cancelling a booking for which an upgrade has been confirmed:
If you're cancelling a booking for which an upgrade has been confirmed, you'll need to call Air Canada Reservations to request your refund.
Can all refundable fares be refunded online?
