Duplicate Ticket Refund Policy

When duplicate tickets are issued, Air Canada allows a refund of the duplicate ticket provided the refund is processed before departure.

Definition

Duplicate tickets are defined as two or more 014 tickets issued for the same passenger, for the same origin/destination travelling on the same flight (s) and date(s).

Air Canada considers the duplicate ticket eligible a refund under this policy to be the second ticket issued.

Refund Eligibility

This policy is not intended to circumvent the fare rules of the first issued ticket. Should you refund the first ticket issued, it must be per fare rule.

Note: Under the 24-Hour refund rule Air Canada allows a refund within 24 hours of ticket issuance. Refunds beyond 24 hours of ticket issuance are not permitted, except for weekends and statutory holidays, Air Canada permits refund up to the next business day following the ticket issuance.

Refund Process for the Duplicate Ticket (2nd ticket) Prior to Departure

GDS

  • Cancel the itinerary of the duplicate ticket
  • Refund the duplicate ticket by entering the refund waiver code DUP and the last 10 digits of the first ticket in the Refund Waiver Code field; example DUP1234567890. An error fee of $50 CAD1/USD will be issued in the form of a debit memo.
  • If the Refund Waiver code is not entered in the Refund Waiver field, or is entered incorrectly, a debit memo for the full value of the refund will be issued

Pease contact the Air Canada Contact Centre to request a refund of the duplicate ticket.

Important Note

  • Should the first ticket be refunded under this policy, a debit memo for the full value of the applicable refund will be issued.
  • If the travel agency requests a refund of a duplicate ticket as defined above from Refund Services, Air Canada will charge a $1001 CAD/USD processing fee in addition to the error fee.
