1. Booking window
Aeroplan Flight Reward reservations must be completed a minimum of two hours prior to flight departure, unless outlined below:
2. Flight Reward reservations
Flight Reward reservations may be completed free of charge at aircanada.com, or for a non-refundable $30 CAD fee via the Aeroplan Contact Centre. If a Flight Reward reservation cannot be completed online, the reservation will still be subject to the Contact Centre service fee. For Flight Reward reservations which include travel on a flight operated by an airline other than Air Canada, the Air Canada Express brand, Air Canada Rouge, or on a bus service operated by Landline, a $39 CAD partner booking fee will apply, per ticket.
Flight Reward reservations may include a U.S. Tax Recovery Fee. The U.S. Tax Recovery Fee is collected by Air Canada as an agent of Aeroplan to recover the cost of United States international transportation taxes applicable to certain Flight Reward itineraries.
Flight Rewards are provided by Air Canada, a partner of Aeroplan.
3. Itineraries and points pricing - general policy
Flight Rewards may be reserved for one-way, round-trip, open-jaw, or multi-city travel.
The number of Aeroplan points required to book a Flight Reward depends on numerous factors including the itinerary, origin, destination and fare option selected.
All Flight Reward reservations are subject to approval by Aeroplan and the operating airline(s) on the itinerary
4. Itineraries and points pricing – reservation maximums
A single Flight Reward reservation permits up to 6 flight segments per direction of travel. A reservation may have between 1 and 6 directions of travel, however the maximum number of flight segments on a single reservation is 12.
5. Itineraries and points pricing – stopovers
Stopovers are permitted once per direction of travel, including on one-way travel. Stopovers are subject to a maximum duration of 45 days. An open-jaw is not permitted at a stopover point as travel must continue with a departure from the previous arrival city. Additional points are required for stopovers.
Stopovers are not permitted within Canada or the United States.

- Canada/U.S. - International: 24 hours
- International - Canada/U.S.: 24 hours

7. Itineraries and points pricing – routing validation
All Flight Reward routings are subject to final validation and approval by Aeroplan and the operating airline(s) on the itinerary.
Flight Reward itineraries built in a circuitous manner may be permitted so long as the cumulative flown distance between the origin and destination does not exceed twice the non-stop distance for a given direction of travel. Within a single direction of travel, backtracking via the same connecting airport, city or country is not permitted.
Flight Reward itineraries with a direction of travel wholly operated by Air Canada, or operated by Air Canada and Aeroplan partner airlines, may be subject to the routing rules of the equivalent retail fare.
To provide additional flexibility, certain exceptions to this policy may apply for travel between an origin and destination which are close in non-stop distance.
7.1. Routing exception example
Origin | Destination | Pricing details | |
Flight segment 1 | Fort St. John | Vancouver (497 miles) |
North America - North America (0 - 500 miles) |
Flight segment 2 | Vancouver | Edmonton (508 miles) |
|
Flight segment 3 | Edmonton | Fort McMurray (240 miles) |
8. Itineraries and points pricing - travel within a zone
For connecting itineraries with an origin and destination located in a single travel zone of the Aeroplan Flight Reward chart, connecting via a third travel zone is not permitted.
To provide additional flexibility, certain limited exceptions to this policy may apply for travel between an origin and destination which border a travel zone. Air Canada’s website and mobile app, as well as Aeroplan’s Contact Centre system, will automatically apply any exceptions if valid. Otherwise, the single direction of travel will be priced as two separate rewards.
9. Itineraries and points pricing – travel between two zones
For connecting itineraries with an origin and destination located in two different travel zones of the Aeroplan Flight Reward chart, connecting via a third zone is generally permitted if it meets the other conditions outlined in this document.
However, the following exceptions apply:
- North America to/from Europe: must travel across the Atlantic Ocean
- North America to/from Middle East: must travel across the Atlantic Ocean
- North America to/from South America: must travel wholly within the Western Hemisphere

In all other circumstances, the Voucher will be forfeited.
- In the event of a cancellation of the Flight Reward, the Voucher will be refunded to the Aeroplan member’s account to the extent that: (i) travel under the cancelled Flight Reward itinerary to which the Voucher was applied has not commenced; and (ii) the Voucher has not expired.
