What are Preferred seats?
Preferred seats offer the comfort of more legroom when you travel in Economy class. They are located:
On Air Canada rouge, Preferred seats are known as rouge Plus seats. They offer the same added legroom as Preferred seats and are available for the same price.
Are Preferred  and rouge Plus seats available on all flights?
Subject to availability, Preferred seats are available on most routes operated by Air Canada and Jazz, and rouge Plus seats are available on all Air Canada rouge flights

Preferred seats are available on most routes operated by Air Canada and Jazz, subject to availability. Preferred seats are not available on codeshare flights and flights operated by other airlines.
Where can I select my Preferred or rouge Plus seats?
For bookings made at aircanada.com, Preferred and rouge Plus seats can be purchased at time of booking or at any time prior to check-in by retrieving your booking and choosing the Select Seats option. In addition, these seats can be purchased calling Air Canada Reservations.
If I require special seating because of a justified medical condition or physical disability and I am assigned a Preferred or rouge Plus seat, will I be charged the applicable fee?
No. If you require special seating because of a justified medical condition or physical disability and you are given a Preferred or rouge Plus seat, the related seatcharges will not apply. To request special seating, please contact the Air Canada Medical Assistance Desk:

Will a receipt be issued when I purchase a Preferred or rouge Plus seat?
Yes. Preferred and rouge Plus seat charges will be included as a separate item on your itinerary receipt.
As a Flight Pass customer, how do I go about selecting my Preferred or rouge Plus seat?
As a Flight Pass customer, you can purchase your Preferred or rouge Plus seatonline by going to the Manage My Bookings tab after you've completed your Flight Pass booking. Simply retrieve your booking and look for the seat selection link. You can also call Air Canada Reservations.
Are Preferred  and rouge Plus seats available for purchase at check-in time or at the airport ticket counter?
No. For the moment, Preferred  and rouge Plus seats are not available for purchase at time of check-in or at Air Canada airport ticket counters.
I paid for a Preferred  (or rouge Plus) seat was reassigned to another seat. Will I be refunded?
Yes. If you purchase a Preferred  or rouge Plus seat but are reassigned by Air Canada to another seat prior to check-in, an automatic refund will be processed for your charges. If you are reassigned to another seat at the airport or on board the plane, we ask that you contact Customer Relations to request your refund.
Are Preferred and rouge Plus seats available for Aeroplan flight rewards?

Yes. If you have an Aeroplan Flight Reward booking, you can purchase your Preferred or rouge Plus seat online by going to the Manage My Bookings tab after you've completed your booking. Simply retrieve your booking and look for the seat selection link. You can also call Air Canada Reservations.

Preferred and rouge Plus seats for Aeroplan flight rewards are complimentary for Altitude Super Elite 100K members and charges apply for all other customers.

Can I use my Aeroplan Miles to pay for Preferred or rouge Plus seat selection?
No. This option is not available at this time.
I booked my Air Canada flight through my travel agency; can I select a Preferred or rouge Plus seat?
Yes, your travel agency can request a Preferred or rouge Plus seat online if the booking was made through our travel agency website or by calling Air Canada Reservations.
