Cancelling a booking online

What bookings can be cancelled online?

You can cancel your booking online if:
  • You originally booked your flight on aircanada.com
  • You are cancelling your entire booking.
  • You are cancelling your flight at least two hours before departure.
You may not cancel your booking online in the following circumstances:
  • You booked your flight through Air Canada Reservations or by another means. You’ll need to cancel your flight via the same method it was booked.
  • You are looking to cancel your Aeroplan Reward Booking. Please contact Aeroplan directly.
  • You need to make a partial cancellation. Please call Air Canada Reservations.

How do I cancel my booking online?

To cancel your eligible booking online:
  • Click on the Manage my Bookings tab at the top of any aircanada.com page and find your booking in one of two ways:
    • Access a single Flight Booking by entering your booking reference, last name, and the number of the credit card used to make the booking (the number will be used for retrieval purposes only); or
    • Sign in to access all bookings in your account, then select the booking you wish to cancel.
  • On your flight booking page, click on the ‘Cancel Booking’ link and follow the easy instructions to cancel your booking.
  • Once the cancellation process is complete, a confirmation email will be sent to the email you provided at time of booking.
  • Please note that if you’ve taken advantage of an upgrade, you’ll need to call Air Canada Reservations at 1 800 247 2262 to have your refund processed after cancelling your booking online.

Will I get a refund?

You should always be aware, at the time of purchase, if your ticket is refundable and under what conditions. Many tickets (e.g. many promotional or seat sale tickets) are non-refundable, while others may be subject to a refund penalty which limits their refundable value. In most cases, the words “non-refundable” or “non-ref” are clearly printed on the ticket and ticket receipt.

If you’re in doubt as to your ticket's eligibility for a refund, please contact Air Canada Reservations.

Online refunds

When you cancel your booking online, you’ll be offered an online refund if your entire fare is fully refundable. You will also have the option to retain the value of your unused ticket for future travel.

  • Some fares (e.g. Executive First Lowest) are not refundable online, but are refundable through Air Canada Reservations.
  • If only a part of your travel is refundable, your online option will be to retain the balance of your unused ticket for future travel. You can also request a partial refund by calling Air Canada Reservations.

Non refundable fares

If your fare is not refundable, the value of your ticket will be banked for use as a future travel credit. To use the value of an unused ticket for future travel, you’ll need to call Air Canada Reservations.

Please refer to the Refund Services page for detailed information on how refunds are processed, and how you can apply your unused ticket value to the purchase of a new ticket.
