Anticipated flight delays and cancellations
What happens if there is a travel alert for my departure and/or arrival city and my flight is affected by a delay or cancellation?
In the case of severe weather conditions that are expected to bring about a flight delay or cancellation, we will post travel alerts for affected cities or areas on our homepage, or on our Daily travel outlook page.
If your Air Canada, Air Canada rouge or Air Canada Express flight* is eligible, you may proactively choose to search for an alternate flight to your destination (no change fees will apply) or cancel your remaining flight(s) ** altogether by accessing our online tool:
Alternately, if your itinerary is not eligible, you can cancel or change your booking by contacting:
- Air Canada Reservations.
- Aeroplan at 1-800-361-5373, or your travel agent, if you are travelling on an Aeroplan reward ticket.
- Air Canada Vacations at 1-800-296-3408, or your travel agent, if you purchased an Air Canada vacation package, including a land portion or a cruise.
* If you're travelling on a codeshare flight, operated by another airline, please contact the carrier directly. The operating carrier is responsible for flight delays and cancellations within 48 hours of departure.
