Anticipated flight delays and cancellations

What happens if there is a travel advisory for my departure and/or arrival city and my flight is affected by a delay or cancellation?

In the case of severe weather conditions that are expected to bring about a flight delay or cancellation, we will post travel advisories for affected cities or areas on our homepage, at the top of this page or on our Daily operational outlook page.

If your Air Canada or Jazz flight* is eligible, you may proactively choose to search for another flight or cancel your remaining flight(s) ** altogether by accessing our:

Alternately, you can cancel or change your booking by contacting:

  • Air Canada Reservations. Our agents will tell you if you’re eligible to:
    • Proactively change your Air Canada or Jazz operated flight* to another Air Canada or Jazz flight, at no cost, to travel within 3 days before or after your original travel date - you can then change your return to match the same length of stay if necessary.
    • Retain the value of your ticket and apply it to future travel on Air Canada. No change fee will apply.
  • Aeroplan at 1-800-361-5373, or your travel agent, if you are travelling on an Aeroplan reward ticket.
  • Air Canada Vacations at 1-800-296-3408, or your travel agent, if you purchased an Air Canada vacation package, including a land portion or a cruise.

* If you're travelling on a codeshare flight, operated by another airline, please contact the carrier directly. The operating carrier is responsible for flight delays and cancellations within 48 hours of departure.
