Minimum connection times
For a smooth connection between flights, it's important that you give yourself adequate time between your first flight's arrival and your next flight's departure.This time between flights is known as your minimum connection time, and it is needed to allow for security checks and any necessary terminal changes.
Use the tables below to plan your travel itinerary, and make sure to respect minimum allowable connection times. Flights without adequate connection time cannot be booked.
Note:
The sample connection times provided in the tables below apply only to Air Canada flights and Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz; other airlines' connection times may vary.
'International' applies to any flight departing from outside Canada and the U.S. (i.e. Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe and South America)
35 min* (30 min for connections between 2 Air Canada Express flights operated by Jazz)
Example: If you're travelling from Sudbury to Vancouver with a connecting flight in Toronto, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 45 minutes between your arrival in Toronto and your departure for Vancouver.
Example: If you're travelling from Victoria to San Francisco with a connecting flight in Vancouver, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 1 hour 10 min between your arrival in Vancouver and your departure for San Francisco.
Example: If you're travelling from Quebec City to Paris with a connecting flight in Montreal, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 40 min between your arrival in Montreal and your departure for Paris.
Example: If you're travelling from Denver to Lethbridge with a connecting flight in Calgary, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 1 hour between your arrival in Calgary and your departure for Lethbridge.
Example: If you're travelling from Albany to Frankfurt with a connecting flight in Toronto, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 1 hour between your arrival in Toronto and your departure for Frankfurt.
Example: If you're travelling from Beijing to Ottawa with a connecting flight in Toronto, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 1 h 15 min between your arrival in Toronto and your departure for Ottawa.
Example: If you're travelling from Zurich to Boston with a connecting flight in Montreal, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 1 h 10 min between your arrival in Montreal and your departure for Boston.
Example: If you're travelling from London to Mexico City with a connecting flight in Toronto, you'll need to provide for a minimum connection time of 1 hour between your arrival in Toronto and your departure for Mexico City.
